Memory Cafe for Dementia Support in Buckeye, AZ |
A welcoming space for dementia support groups and caregiver support in the Buckeye community |

Loneliness can arrive long before memory does.
For families in Buckeye watching a loved one navigate dementia, the silence that fills a home can feel just as devastating as the diagnosis itself.
That silence is exactly what one local program is working to break.
The Buckeye Memory Café is a monthly gathering designed to reconnect people living with memory loss to the warmth of community — no clinical agenda, just coffee, conversation, and people who understand.
Held on the second Tuesday of each month at Buckeye Senior Center on East Centre Avenue, the café runs from 9 to 11 a.m. and brings together individuals with dementia alongside their caregivers, family, and friends.
The gathering is part of Dementia Friendly Buckeye — a community-driven movement that has grown into a coalition of nearly 45 members committed to reshaping how the city supports residents living with memory loss.
In September 2025, the mayor formally proclaimed Buckeye a dementia-friendly community, a milestone that signals a city leaning into the challenge rather than looking away.
The café was born from a clear-eyed look at what local families were missing.
Organizers found that dementia has a way of shrinking a person's world quickly — friends stop calling, families grow hesitant, and caregivers can become profoundly isolated.
Each session offers snacks, games, and unhurried conversation in an atmosphere deliberately designed to feel nothing like a medical visit.
Since launching in 2025, the dementia support group has drawn 25 to 30 attendees monthly — a steady turnout that reflects real need across the West Valley.
The café's staying power was tested during a major storm, when nearly 30 people showed up anyway — a quiet testament to how much these connections matter.
In a city growing as fast as Buckeye, making sure no one gets left behind may be the most important kind of progress.
The memory café is free, open to all, and welcomes anyone touched by dementia — no formal diagnosis required, no apologies needed. |

good initiative but they need to get the word out more. I have lived here 8 years and never heard of dementia friendly buckeye until now.
a friend of mine has been going with her dad and she said its the one morning a month he seems like himself again. That got me.
not to be that guy but does the city actually fund this or is it all volunteers. Curious how long it can keep going as buckeye keeps growing
appreciate that its free and no diagnosis required. A lot of families are dealing with early signs and have nowhere to go yet.
second tuesday of the month, 9 to 11, good to know. Wish they had an evening option too for people who work during the day.
my husband was diagnosed last spring and the loneliness hit me harder than i expected. Caregivers need this just as much as the person with dementia.
Good to see the senior center being used for stuff like this. That building sits empty half the time it feels like.
30 people showed up during a storm. That says everything you need to know about how much people need this.
My mom has dementia and we stopped going places about a year ago because its just too hard. Did not know this existed. Going to try the next one for sure.
