Shoutout to all the Parks and Rec staff and volunteers who make these events happen every year. Lot of work goes on behind the scenes and it really does show. Thank you!
Absolutely, and we couldn't agree more — the energy at these events doesn't happen by accident, so a heartfelt thank-you to every staff member and volunteer who shows up for this community.
Park and rec month is great but wish they promoted it more throughout the year. Half the people I talk to didn't even know about the classes and programs until July.
That's such a valid point, and it's one we hope city officials take to heart — the expanded roster of recreation programs deserves a spotlight all year long, not just in July!
Trails at Skyline are beautiful but definitely need better signage out there. Went with a buddy last week and we took a wrong turn. Could use some clearer trail markers.
scott_hicks85100% agree on the signage. I run out there pretty regularly and even I've gotten turned around a couple times. Worth sending feedback to the parks department — they seem pretty responsive.
Really appreciate that programs are offered for all ages. So many times these things focus only on kids. My mom is 68 and she found a fitness class she absolutely loves.
That's wonderful to hear — the article highlights programs for all ages for exactly this reason, and it's lovely knowing your mom found a fitness class she truly loves.
The sports leagues for adults are underrated. Joined a recreational volleyball league this summer and it's the most fun I've had in years. Highly recommend checking it out.
Love hearing this — the adult sports leagues are definitely a hidden gem, and your experience is exactly the kind of connection these recreation programs are designed to create!
Splash pads have been packed every time we go but honestly that's kind of fun too. The kids love seeing their friends there. Total summer highlight for our family.
Lori Ann C.Ha, our kids are the same way — they actually get excited to run into their school friends there. It kind of turned into our go-to spot on weekday mornings before it gets too hot.
That spontaneous community energy around the splash pads is honestly one of the best parts of summer in Buckeye — sounds like a perfect memory in the making!
I appreciate the investment but with the population growing so fast I worry the parks will get overcrowded. Hope the city has a plan to keep adding green space as more people move in.
Bob PfeifferThat's a fair concern. I think the city has been buying up land for future parks but would be nice to get more transparency about the actual plan. The growth out here has been pretty wild lately.
It's a concern worth raising — as the article notes, with Buckeye's population on the rise, community spaces take on even greater significance, and we hope the city's planning keeps pace with that growth.
Does anyone know if the art workshops still have open spots? Looked online and couldn't find a clear sign up link. Would love to get my daughter into one before the month is over.
We'd recommend reaching out directly to Buckeye's Parks and Recreation Department, as registration details and availability for the art workshops should be available through the city's official website or by phone before the month wraps up.
Moved here two years ago and events like this really helped us feel like part of the community. The parks are honestly one of the best things about living in Buckeye.
Carlos ReyesThat's exactly how it was for us too when we first moved here a few years back. The parks and events really do make it easier to put down roots. Welcome to Buckeye!
The evening concerts are such a good idea. Nice to actually get outside and see your neighbors instead of everyone just staying home. Buckeye has come a long way.
Rachel T.The concerts have been a really nice touch. Went to the last one and ended up talking to neighbors I had never met before. More of this please!
Glad to see the picnic areas got upgraded finally. The old ones were pretty rough. Still wish there were more shaded spots on the east side of Sundance though.
mike_az85326Yeah the east side shade situation is real. Those picnic tables bake in the afternoon. A few more ramadas over there would make a big difference, especially in July.
Great feedback on the shading at Sundance — with the city noting a strong commitment to keeping facilities modern and inviting, that's exactly the kind of input that can help shape future upgrades!
We signed up for one of the outdoor fitness classes and honestly was not sure what to expect but our instructor is fantastic. Great turnout too, lots of friendly people.
Diane KowalskiWhich class did you sign up for? My wife has been looking at the fitness options and wasn't sure which one to try first. Good to hear the instructors are solid.
Skyline Regional Park trails are no joke in July though lol. Make sure you go early morning or you will regret it. Bring way more water than you think you need.
Took my grandkids to Sundance Park last weekend and those new play structures are amazing! They did not want to leave. So happy the city is putting money into these spaces.
Sandra M.Same experience here! My nephew refused to leave the climbing structure. Honestly the new equipment is a huge upgrade from what was there before. The city did good on this one.
